Hand and Neck
Otolaryngology focuses on the various conditions and diseases of the ears, nose and throat (ENT), as well as the face and neck. An otolaryngologist, or ENT physician, completes at least five years of specialty training after medical school and then must pass the American Board of Otolaryngology examination to become board-certified.
Similar to oral surgeons, otolaryngologists are qualified to perform plastic surgery on various regions of the face and neck. Procedures an otolaryngologist commonly performs include cheekbone implants (malar augmentation), ear surgery (otoplasty), eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), facelift (rhytidectomy), facial and neck liposuction, forehead and brow lift, nasal reconstruction (rhinoplasty), and repairing a nasal septal perforation (deviated septum).
